19th Century Photographic Album, New England Attribution. 74 Civil War-era 1/16th plate tintype head shots of family members and friends of same, inset into four-to-a-page album sheets, bound in a tooled leather album, with star in low relieft o front and back binding. Most images are identified in graphite with name of subject, some are indistinct. Attributed to New England. Circa 1860-1870. {Approximate dimensions: 1 x 5/8 inches, the images.The album: 3 1/4 H. x 3 1/4 W. x 1 inch} From a Bay Area private collection. Condition: Moderate condition; the binding has tears at spine, and gold decoration mostly abraded. The brass clasping band is absent. Seven pages have light staining to one half of the page; some of the pages have light tears and stains and the images have light scratches.
