明末清初，鼻烟传入中国，进而令鼻烟壶成为一种精美艺术品流传下来，而且长盛不衰，被誉为“集多种工艺之大成于一身的袖珍艺术品”，成为清代艺术的重要表征之一。多采用瓷、铜、象牙、玉石、玛瑙、琥珀等材质，似拍品这般采用竹根制作的则甚为少见，拍品巧妙利用竹根材质天然纹理雕琢而成，瓶口下垂如意云头纹，两侧雕团寿字，壶身双面开光，匠心独运，大巧似拙。
