碗成明初宫碗造型，以剔犀工艺做成，内嵌套银胆。剔犀工艺繁复，先于木胎上髹黑漆百余次，再髹朱漆若干次，如此反复，当漆层达到所需要的厚度时，再剔刻如意云头纹，使黝黑峻深的刀口断面中显露朱漆数道，即为《髹饰录》中所谓“乌间朱线”的作法。此件剔犀作品岁月沧桑，包浆厚重，为明初髹漆典范。
