和田白玉籽料雕琢，局部留有洒金皮。玉羊作蹲伏状，短颈挺胸，昂首直视，双目凝眸，温顺可人。头上双角向后弯曲，与背部相连，四腿曲跪，收于腹下，尾巴肥短，自然下垂。此羊造型简洁明快，比例协调，线条流畅，打磨润泽。刀工简约中隐藏着细腻，造型端庄中亦不失灵动，体现出刻工良好的艺术表现力。中国古代“羊”、“祥”通假，是吉祥、善良、美好的象征。西汉大儒董仲舒有云：“羊，祥也，故吉礼用之。”可见羊在我国传统文化中有极为重要的象征意义。清代的玉羊亦多以卧羊或坐羊为主，因羊与祥谐音，取吉祥之意。
