此器小口，直颈，微微外撇，丰肩，球形腹，隐圈足，平底。造型规整，胎体厚重，外壁通体施胭脂红釉，色泽鲜亮明艳。外底及内壁施白釉。天球瓶是受西亚文化影响极深的一种瓷器造型，创烧于明代永乐、宣德年间的景德镇窑，多见青花，以海水云龙纹为贵，永乐朝开始成为观赏式瓶，宣德年间较为流行，又称赏瓶。
