A Gold-Damascened Iron Bowl Case, Tibet, 15th-17th CenturyCast with two sinuous dragons on either side, the base with a leafy roundel, traces of gilt throughout, diameter 5.9 in — 15 cmNote:Metal containers of this type were used by nomadic Tibetans to protect precious Chinese porcelain and jade objects. The treasures would wrapped in a silk case and secured by a lid (both now lost).
