A Dutch decorated 'Singlo' tea canister18th century, China, Singlo was a historic type of Chinese green tea. It was one of the two kinds of green tea that were throwninto the Boston Harboron December 16, 1773, during the so called ‘Boston Tea Party’, seen as one of the starting events for the American War of Independence. The tea canister made in China with underglaze blue decoration and the word 'Singlo'. With Dutch later added decoration over the glaze and gilding. Not marked.H 12 cm, L 9.8 cm, W 5.4 cm, Rim chips and fritting and slight wear. No hairlines or restoration.
