Age: Qing dynasty with an apocryphal Kangxi mark

Description: A handsome carved and molded sancai glazed biscuit porcelain vase, double walled and reticulated, with taotie masks against reticulated cloud background and ruyi-blade borders. Unglazed foot rim with incised six character Kangxi mark to yellow glazed bottom.

Provenance:
From an important Midwestern collection, started in 1876. The collection was donated to a museum in 1938 and remained part of the Museum's collection until this year where it is being deaccessioned for purposes of raising money for preservation and further acquisition.

Lot Notes: Although the present piece is marked with a Kanxi mark, the whole body with reticulated work and such complex design speaks more of a 19th century dating honouring and progressing from the original kangxi archetypes in this style.
