Rectangular, shaped, in white, blue and gold porcelain with the views of Palazzo Vecchio, Palazzo Pitti, the Duomo and Ponte della SS. Trinità on the four sides, in the center two ink bottles, a holder and a long pen well with the inscription "I Cini a H. Donkin". On the reverse the names of the monuments in gold and "Manifattura Ginori in Toscana" in red in the centre. Breaks and some lacks. 2.6 x 11.8 x 5.9 in. Tommaso Cini persuaded his father Giovanni, founder in 1807 together with his brother Cosimo of a paper mill in San Marcello sul Limestre, to introduce the new machine for the production of "endless" paper; thus, in March 1836, the firm asked the Grand Duke Leopold II for a twelve-year privatization for the manufacture of "continuous" paper. The machine was ordered from the English firm Bryan Donkin and its installation was personally supervised by Henry Donkin, who personally remained in San Marcello for a few years as paper mill technician.
