In the 58th year of the Kangxi period (1719), Chen Zhongxin, a French missionary enamel painter was sent to Beijing by the Viceroy of Guangdong and Guangxi, demonstrating the involvement of foreign artisans (see , ed.,Tributes from Guangdong to the Qing Court Hong Kong, 1987, pp.54-55). Vessels were made both in the Guangdong workshops and in the Imperial workshops in Beijing.
