此件官尺以紫檀木制成，牛毛棕细密，色泽深沉古雅，入手沉坠，可作官尺，亦可作镇纸。其四面皆刻有尺度，并铭有官尺标准之来源，四面分别为“周尺”“汉建初六年造虑虒铜尺”“宋三司布帛尺”“乾隆六年工部库校准营造铁尺”。据铭文，其周、汉、宋古尺，皆为依照名家旧藏原器所刻。此件官尺亦因之独具金石意趣。
