TWO MOLDED AND ENAMELED PORCELAIN SNUFF BOTTLES 1860-1908 (2)PROPERTY FROM THE COLLECTION OF TED AND JOAN DORFTWO MOLDED AND ENAMELED PORCELAIN SNUFF BOTTLES1860-1908The first a compressed ovoid bottle on an oval footrim, its neck narrowing towards a flat lip, the surfaces covered in turquoise green glaze, molded and carved around the sides with two energetic dragons chasing a pearl amongst clouds, the recessed biscuit base molded with an apocryphal Qianlong mark, 1860-1900; the second an elongated pear form bottle in famille rose enamels, 1875-1908, its thin lip with traces of gilt, each main side decorated with a dragon roundel amidst leafy millet and flowers, all under an auspicious bat below tasseled pearls surrounding the long neck.2 1/2 and 3 3/8in (6.4 and 8.5cm) high (2).1860-1908 模製瓷胎松石綠釉雲龍紋及模製瓷胎粉彩龍團蝙蝠紋鼻烟壺各一件Provenance:Joan and Ted Dorf Collection, nos. 44 and 376In relation to the turquoise green glazed 'dragon' bottle, there were three master potters working in this medium in the early to middle years of the nineteenth century – Wang Bingrong, Chen Guozhi and Li Yucheng. Of these Wang Bingrong was the most prolific and the most versatile. It is possible that a bottle such as this without his signature is part of the higher end output of his commercial studio.
