核雕属立体微雕的范畴，盛行于明清两代，其中榄核雕自明代中期后兴起之后，就被视为至宝绝技，并以作为衣带和扇附等装饰品而风行一时。橄榄产地大致分布在广东广州、山东潍坊和江苏苏州三个地区。其中广东增城市盛产乌榄核白榄，乌榄更是增城四宝之一，除了可制成咸榄角、油榄角、王香榄角之外，其核剑英、中空无仁肉，更是制作榄雕得好材料。
此手持以果核浮雕而成，每粒果核精雕人物，松石，刀法圆熟，每核雕四位人物，18子共72人，应地煞72之数，细节处理到位，层次鲜明，交代清晰，十分难得。此件雕工老到，包浆漂亮，赏心悦目，随手随心。
