藏传佛教艺术在人物形象塑造上最值得称道的是上师造像，这中间倾注了造像者以人物的真实面貌表达其艺术追求的理想。可以说只有理解了师祖图像蕴含的艺术家情感，才可以说理解了藏传佛教艺术的精要。
此尊上师面容圆润，额头高广，橄榄形双目，鼻梁挺拔，表情坚毅肃穆。上身内着僧坎，外披袒右肩式袈裟，自在坐姿，左手结禅定印托宝瓶，右手持金刚杵与膝上，下身穿宽松僧裙，僧服衣摆在双腿下呈海浪状，富有装饰趣味。下承仰覆莲座，莲瓣三层环绕台座半周，是为风格之特征。
