Pair of Chinese Export plates from mid 19th century. Large dinner size, 11.25 inches diameter. Depth 1 inch. These are heavy porcelain, with the characteristic blue-gray glaze. Hand painted, kind of folksy, cobalt blue flowers in a garden, with a bumble bee approaching. These were fired in a wood fired kiln, as you can see the pitting and occasional as in the glaze. Good signs of early Chinese porcelain. These were mounted 100 years ago with soldered strips of tin with a hanger, in order to display on the wall. I am leaving those antique plate holders on, because they are stronger and more secure than new ones. Condition very good. One is perfect. One has a tiny, and I mean so tiny it's hard to find, flake to the brown glaze on the edge. I blew up the photo so you could see it, but it is so small you need your fingers to find it. Beautiful glaze, with no scratches at all. That is amazing for pieces 150 years old. The bumble bee is so whimsical. These would look great in your collection of antique blue and white Chinese ceramics. Buy with confidence from Arlene Rabin, Antiques, with 43 years experience selling interesting smalls. Please forgive the price tag, as I had packed these for a show, and then all the shows got cancelled. I list the price that I need to get, so sorry, no offers or arguing. All antique shows have been cancelled, so we are doing the best we can.
