An one of a kind Thangka depicting the mighty Tibetan Manjushree, God of Divine Wisdom. Seated dhyana asana, rising above lapis blue sea, the full face with large downcast eyes under willow-leaf eyebrows flanked by pendulous earlobes adorned with large gold hoop earrings, all under an elaborate crown that keeps the hair neatly away from the face while letting the flamboyant blue hair fall over the shoulders. In his right hand the scepter sword to cut through all evils and in his left a stem of lotus supporting a book symbolizing peace and wisdom. Manjushree wears a floral patterned, layered dhoti, multiple sashes and festoons of beads. He is surrounded by Tsonkapa and Amitabha in the above and White Tara and Hayagriva below his lotus throne. Sanskrit messages written in gold express Buddhist teachings. A large lapis mandala with gold border backs the deity with golden rays radiating outwards while a small verdant mandala highlights the Buddha's head. An elaborate artwork on linen with beautiful color and detail.
