BRONZE ARCHAISTIC 'GU' VASE LATE MING TO QING DYNASTY, 17TH-18TH CENTURY 明末清初 銅鑄獸面紋出戟花觚 finely cast with large flaring trumpet mouth and supported on gently everted foot, the neck with four leaf-shaped panels, the mildly protruding central section divided into four quadrants by raised ridges, each quadrant detailed with taotie mask against leiwen ground, the foot further divided into four quadrants, each quadrant with geometric stylised birds and '#' patterns against leiwen ground (28.4cm high; 1175g) Qty: (1) Provenance: From a Scottish country house collection Note: A comparable archaistic 'gu' vase dated to the 17th century was sold at Sotheby's Hong Kong on 29 May 2019, lot 692; another comparable bronze vase, gu, with identical decorations, dated to the late Yuan/ early Ming dynasty, 14th century, was sold at Christie's London, 28 June 2011, lot 12.
