BRONZE QUATREFOIL VASE LATE MING TO EARLY QING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY 明末清初 銅鑄如意紋海棠形瓶 of flattened lobed form, elegantly cast raising from an everted foot to waisted neck and lipped rim, the bulging shoulders enclosed by ruyi lappets underneath two mythical beast masks as knob handles in relief on each side, all raised on an openwork integral low stand of conforming shape, with ruyi-form feet joint by stretchers (37cm high; 4400g) Qty: (1) Provenance: From a Scottish country house collection Note: A similar bronze lobed vase with elephant handles, dated to the 17th century, comparable with the ruyi collar and raised on an integral stand, was sold at Sotheby's New York, 21 March 2015, lot 764
