A PAIR OF SCOTTISH SILVER SALVERS By David Crichton Rait, Glasgow 1824,A PAIR OF SCOTTISH SILVER SALVERSBy David Crichton Rait, Glasgow 1824, Each engraved with central crest enclosed by a leaf design and surrounded by foliate border, the everted rim of cast shell and scroll design, on four scrolling vine and leaf bracket feet, diameter approx. 29.6cm, weight 62oz.These salvers were probably produced for Rait by Robert Gray and Son of Glasgow. The pattern of the cast rims and feet match those produced by Gray and the present salvers also bear stamped inventory numbers 264 and 265 of the type found on Gray's work.
