粤绣，始见于明末，经百年发展而成为名气大噪的地方绣种，跻身“四大名绣”之列。粤绣针脚齐整，为各地绣种所不及，其构图丰满、施针简快、针线重叠隆起、配色艳丽、以施物针等特点亦是其它刺绣无法企及。清人叶梦珠《阅世篇》记载一些高级粤绣“每匹不过十二尺，价值五十余两”，可见其珍。此横幅红色缎地上彩绣孔雀、锦鸡、鹦鹉、仙鹤、蝴蝶、牡丹、松树等物事，布局繁满，大红大绿，装饰效果极强。
