STATUETTE DE PRAJNAPARAMITA EN ALLIAGE DE CUIVRECambodge, époque angkorienne, fin du XIIe siècle A COPPER ALLOY FIGURE OF PRAJNAPARAMITA Cambodia, Angkor Period, late 12th century Prajnaparamita, ismonly portrayed with a lotus bud in her right and a sutra in her, now missing, left hand, she bears the third eye on her forehead and the continuous and undulating line of the eyebrows, the shape of the eyes and the width of the mouth are characteristic of the late twelfth century, stand. 16.3cm (6 3/8in) high. Provenance: Robert Rousset, Paris (1901-1981), acquired in the 1950's-1970's Jean-Pierre Rousset, Paris (1936-2021) Prajnaparamita is one of the most important figures in Mahayana Buddhism and is the goddess of transcendent wisdom. Likely paired with Buddha and Avalokiteshvara to form a Buddhist triad.
