PAIRE DE STATUES DE FONCTIONNAIRES EN TERRE CUITEDynastie Tang (618-906) A PAIR OF LARGE PAINTED POTTERY FIGURES OF OFFICIALS Tang Dynasty (618-906 AD) Both modelled standing on a high base, wearing an armour on their chest decorated with floral designs and long flowing robes with long sleeve cuffs extending from their clasped hands, falling over their upturned slippers, their head fitted with a ceremonial headdress, traces of orange pigments. 68cm (26 7/8in) high. Provenance: Jean-Pierre Rousset, Paris (1936-2021), acquired in the 1980's The present pair of figures is a particularly fine example, with superbly modelled facial details and expressions emanating a strong presence.
