A Pair of Japanese Carved Cinnabar Lacquer Stands MEIJI/TAISHO PERIOD each in the form of a stool, the thick, circular top finely carved to show a blossoming flower head enclosed by a keyfret border, the narrow sides decorated with orchids, above a short neck with prunus blossoms, the shaped aprons decorated with further prunus and flowering chrysanthemums, all raised on s-shaped legs ending in scrolled feet, joined by a circular stretcher. Height 6 7/16 in. x diameter 6 in., 16.4 x 15.2 cm.
