A Lowestoft blue and white punchbowl c.1765-70, decorated with two long-tailed birds perched on flowering branches either side of a large peony bloom, the interior painted with a formal trellis border, 23.2cm dia. Provenance: a private collection in East Anglia. Paper label stating that the bowl was "Purchased Merrington Smith Sale, Illustrated in Catalogue 6054". Arthur Merrington Smith was among those responsible for excavating the factory`s old kiln in 1904. See lot 500.
