Hunting Dog Retriever w/ Rabbit in Mouth Bronze Sculpture This sculpture depicts a dog, possibly a hound, with a rabbit gripped in his mouth. The hound is slim and his ribs are pronounced. His tail wraps around him as he sits. His eyes gaze up to the right, likely looking at his owner with satisfaction over the effort it took to catch his prey. He still has a snarl over his mouth and you can see his teeth have a firm grip on the rabbit which lay's limply by his waist. The piece has a rustic feel and has a two toned brown patina. It is 100% Bronze and is signed by the artist Barye. Antoine Louis Barye was born in France September 24th, 1796 and he died 1875. Most of his work was focused exclusively on animals, most of them wild. He was considered and Animalier, a sculptor whose works are mostly animals. Barye is a very accomplished sculptor and artist, he has exhibited some of his works in the Salon and some of his works reside in the Lourve. Dimensions: 16" x 16" Weight: 28 lbs View photos for further details.
