此尊观音以锤揲工艺制作，呈自在坐姿，盘发成髻，发丝梳理细密，带云形发饰，脸庞俊美，表情温和，眉宇间流露出恬淡宁静、庄重娴雅的神态。观音悠悠闲坐，身姿曲线优美，左腿支起，右腿自然平置，右手抑地，左手持握经卷。身着宽袍，下着长裙，衣着以花鸟纹为饰，衣饰塑造厚重，富有韵律感，形象显系自在观音。
《观世音菩萨普门品》云：“应以声闻身得度者，即现声闻身而为说法。”三十三观音化身中的持经观音的应身即为声闻身，声闻是闻佛音声教导开悟出家，持经卷为其特色。
