DIAMOND AND ENAMEL PRINCE OF WALES BROOCHDIAMOND AND ENAMEL PRINCE OF WALES BROOCHThe Prince of Wales feathers set with rose-cut diamonds, circular-cut emeralds and cabochon rubies, with applied words ICH DIEN to base, within a rose-cut diamond border, the ground decorated with blue enamel, surmounted by a red, green and orange enamelled coronet, enamel loss, length 3.2cm, cased by Spink & Son Ltd., 17 & 18 Piccadilly, W.Provenance:By family tradition, the brooch was presented by Queen Alexandra (r. 1901-1910) to The Hon. Margaret Dawnay (1800-1948). Margaret served as Maid of Honour to Queen Alexandra from 1905 to 1908, prior to her marriage to Rev. Rowland Grant. Queen Alexandra was godmother to their daughter, Alexandra Margaret Grant, and presented her with an engraved silver porringer dated 23rd July 1911 on her christening.
