掐丝珐琅工艺大约在公元十三至十四世纪传入我国，明初曹昭所著《格古要论》中称之为“大食窑”。由于制作工艺复杂、技术要求严格、成本较高等原因，掐丝珐琅在中国诞生之日起，就被皇家所垄断，秘藏深宫，非一般百姓所能享用。此器以精铜为胎，局部鎏金，虽未加款，但特征独特少见，香炉两边对称双龙形耳，底部铜台与三只白鹤相连，造型独特，白鹤栩栩如生，外加此器器形体量如此巨大，鎏金色泽亮丽，保存完好，尤显珍贵。其器型上大下小之稳固，营造出一种庄重之感。其料色纯净，掐丝规整，高贵典雅，置之面前熠熠生辉。宫殿造型与珐琅结合后，创出另一番别样的艺术特色。
