彝，形制大雅，宗庙之器也。彝是中国古代先民用于盛酒的器具，亦泛指古代宗庙常用的祭器。与鼎合称“鼎彝”，泛指青铜礼器。彝，是宋人以这类器形体作方形而确定的称谓，至今沿用。此件彝杯，当是典型的宫廷仿古之物，形体椭圆，口上有流，鋬上铸一兽首，高圈足，流、腹、足上起扉棱。以雷纹为地，饰兽面纹和夔纹，精美工艺。
