此件水盂敛口，腹圆鼓，圈足，胎体轻薄，胎质细腻坚致，外壁以铜红釉绘画獬豸，象征祥瑞与公平，画工极为精湛，足具宫廷御用画师的精深画技，落“大清乾隆年制”篆书款。
水丞，又名“水盂”、“水中丞”。是用来盛水的文房用具。用内附的小勺将清水舀入砚上，研磨习字。明代屠隆撰《考盘余事》记载：宋代定窑、官窑、哥窑、龙泉窑等均烧造水丞，盛行一时。
