$ A MOTHER-OF-PEARL INLAID ‘KOWTOW’ WOODEN PANEL VIETNAM, TONKIN, NAM DINH, LATE NGUYEN DYNASTY, CIRCA 1880-190 The panel is of vertical rectangular shape. It is finely inlaid with a central oval medallion. Within the latter, there is a group of peoples, the front one kneeling in kowtow and possibly bringing goods to make offerings at a temple below a large pine tree. There is also an inmaid inscription or calligraphy. 51 x 40 cm §Bidders should be advised that importation regulations of several countries, including the US, prohibits the importation of ivory and that of coral, or any goods containing same.
