说明：盖盒呈方形，外壁装饰锦地纹，盖面及四壁锦地开光，绘花卉纹。红彩艳丽，纹样整齐。底书“大明万历年製”六字双行楷书款。
赤绘为陶瓷装饰技法之一种。即在陶瓷之器面上，涂以釉药，然后加热至摄氏千度以上烧之，再以各种颜色之釉，作绘或字于器面，复置之锦窑中，改用低温烧之。
大明是一个尚红的王朝。故而明代初年洪武的釉里红瓷器，就明显多于青花瓷器，永宣时期有着史上最好的红釉瓷器。除了红釉和釉里红外，明代的五彩瓷也同样是尊崇红色，日本人狂迷万历五彩，他们称之为“大明彩”，也叫“赤绘”，还大量仿烧，足以乱真。
