A FINE PART-GILT A BRONZE FIGURE OF VAJRABHAIRAVA Tibeto-Chinese, 18th ct. H. 16,2 cm Standing in pratyalidhasana with his multiple-legged feet on two groups of divinities and animals, all reclining in prostration on the separate cast lotus-base, his principle arms embracing his consort, the hands holding karttrika and blood-filled skull-cup, the other arms radiating in two layers around his body with the hands holding the prescribed attributes, wearing skirt, elephants-skin draped over his back, mala of severed heads, jewellery, his gilded multiple-faced head showing various expressions, all with painted facial details, the central bull-faced head with a pair of bulging eyes below bushy eyebrows, open snout showing fangs and teeth, a pair of curved horns and pricked ears, flaming red-coloured hairdo, his consort embracing him with her left leg and the hands holding karttrika and kapala, resealed.
