4 Panel Chinese Gem-Inlaid Lacquered Screen, 19th Century. A large Chinese screen inlaid with hardstones, soapstone, coral, bone and finely carved wood. Primarily depicting floral and scholar’s objects. Other side has nicely engraved lacquer calligraphy and floral work on reddish cinnabar ground (rosewood frame). Dimension: 62" high x 83" wide (each panel 20 1/2" wide). PROVENANCE: Estate of Colonel & Mrs. Frank Plotnik. Army Air Force resided in Japan 1947-1950 with frequent trips to Hong Kong, where and when their collection was acquired. They passed in 2016 and descended to their son Col. Alan Plotnik.
