Franklin, New JerseyOver the course of several hundred million years, a fortuitous combination of conditions resulted in the unique mineral deposits in the Franklin Marble of Northwest New Jersey. Large slabs from the famous Franklin, New Jersey locality are seldom seen on the market, as mining operations in the area have been closed for decades. Originally mined for zinc, the deposits produced over 300 minerals and rare combinations of fluorescent minerals that are considered classic pieces to any collector. Under shortwave ultraviolet light, the present specimen comes alive with fluorescent bands of bright green willemite and fiery red calcite. Black octahedral franklinite crystals are also seen; this mineral is known only from Northwest New Jersey. The present box is the only one of its kind of which we are aware. Created from slabs of this rare mineral with expert craftsmanship, honed to a high polish. Lined with wood to the interior, signed by Konstantin Libman. Measuring 8 x 4 3/4 x 2 1/4 in
