EDO PERIOD, 18TH CENTURYMoulded with two rows of petals to the cavetto, each decorated to the well with a medallion enclosing a crane in flight above tall grasses, each with a brown-edged rim and the underside left undecorated, all approx. 10.5cm. (5)Provenance: from the collection of the late Gas Kimishima, wood-fire potter and specialist in the ancient kilns of Japan, purchased in Japan and thence by descent. Gas established his studio in England and built his own anagama kiln in Tring, Hertfordshire.
