QINGBAI 'TWIN FISH' BOWL SONG DYNASTY 宋 青白釉刻雙魚紋斗笠碗 of conical form with gently everted rim, the interior carved freely with a lively leaping pair of carps on a neatly combed wave ground, applied overall with an elegant pale blue glaze tinged with green, the flat foot unglazed, the base with remnant of an old label ‘R.F.A. Besides acquiring Chinese porcelain, he was also an authority on philately and bought watercolours and etchings. He was a Council member of the Oriental Ceramic Society from 1951-1961 and was a generous friend of the Society.
