此赏瓶略作天球瓶样式，形体饱满，圆唇口，长直颈，球腹，底承圈足，足缘凸唇，与口沿天地相应。颈部饰蕉叶纹一周，肩部以弦纹为界，饰旋涡纹与祥云纹，边棱深峻立体。上腹部开光内饰云龙纹，下腹部饰变体夔龙纹及海水纹。
明清以来的铜器虽然很大程度上取式商周，但无论用途或性质上都截然不同。商周时期，铜器是作为「钟鸣鼎食」之家的传家物，所以商代中晚期铜器常见家族族徽，周代铜器常见「子子孙孙用宝」结尾的铭文，铜器虽然也做实用，但是更多的是用于歌功颂德，刻功纪烈等祭祀场合。从宋代开始大规模复古仿古之后，到清代，铜器「礼」的功用在民间乃至贵族身上已消失殆尽，惟存之以雅好摆设。
