佩体扁平，双面随形雕鱼龙纹，鳌龙首，双眼圆睁，炯炯有神，额顶出角，口露獠牙，长须翘鼻，身躯回环曲折，纵身向上，遒曲有力，短弧形鳞片排列致密有序，鱼尾亦翻卷向上，以显奋力腾跃之姿态。整器雕工精到，独具匠心，意韵深远。细部刻画游刃有余，足显工匠高超技艺。鱼龙又称鳌，传说为龙子之一，以此为题材玉雕在明清十分盛行，比赋寒窗苦读士子应试中第，由布衣换锦绣，犹如鱼幻成龙，有独占鳌头、鲤跃龙门之寄意。
