A collection of Japanese vases, A collection of Japanese vases, 20th century,prising: a pair of satsuma-type vases, ofpressed globular form with a long neck to a flared lobed mouth, decorated with figures in a garden and floral motifs, 46.5cm high, a bottle vase, the pear-shaped body rising from a circular foot to a long neck with a flared mouth, decorated with gilt lacquer in low relief with birds, peonies and fruiting vines against a red ground, six-character mark to base, 45.8cm high, a pair of Satsuma-type vases, painted with birds and iris, 31.6 and 31.8cm high, and a vase, of olive form with a flared mouth, inlaid with a phoenix and dragon chasing a flaming pearl in mother of pearl, inscribed to shoulder, 41cm high (6) Condition report: Vase with handles - both with restoration to mouth, firing cracks to handles, one with chip to rim and larger chips to foot rim, the other with small chips to foot rim. Red vase - losses to lacquer, surface scratches. Vases with iris - gilt and paint losses, surface scratches. Mother of pearl vase - Mouth rim chipped and cracked, lacquer and inlaid losses, surface scratches, speckled with white paint.
