铭文：书法以用笔为上，而结字亦须用工。盖结字因时相传，用笔千古不易。右军字势，古法一变，其雄秀之气出于天然，故古人人今以为师法。齐、粱间人结字非不古，而乏俊气，此又存乎其人，然古法终不可失也。云樵。

铭者简介：邓渭(1736～1795)，字得璜，号云樵山人。竹刻家邓孚嘉之子，自幼师承家学，擅长刻竹和治印。竹刻工薄地阳文，又善刻行楷，字迹秀丽，为乾隆朝嘉定竹器刻字第一高手。所镌笔筒拓本为《清仪阁所藏古器物文》中收入，今传世作品有《邓渭款白菜笔筒》。
