梅瓶以口小只能插梅枝而得名，因瓶体修长，宋时称为“经瓶”，作盛酒用器，明朝以后被称为梅瓶。《饮流斋说瓷》描述：“梅瓶口细而颈短，肩极宽博，至胫稍狭，抵于足微丰，口径之小仅与梅之瘦骨相称，故名梅瓶。”此梅瓶小口，短束颈，圆丰肩，肩以下渐内收，近足处微撇，下承圈足。造型优美，端庄怡人，通体满施绿哥釉，底施米色釉开片，鲜明的釉色，明亮湛然，却又古郁苍苍，虽然传世作品均无款，却是藏家们的珍爱，此种绿釉，制作时期比较短，方法是在首次烧成的哥釉上，二次上铜绿釉，在低温氧化焰中烧成。
