器撇口呈喇叭状，长颈，球形腹，覆杯状高足，体量硕大。全器以胭脂红料彩绘饰，颈部变体蕉叶纹，器身绘团龙纹，近足处饰海浪祥云纹。纹饰绘制精湛，釉彩娇嫩欲滴，图案吉祥，因体量较大，整器分上下两段可拆卸。胭脂红釉不同于以往御窑厂制瓷时所用的铜红和矾红，它是一种以金着色、带有紫色调的粉红色，由于釉中含金，因此也常被人称为“金红”。出现于康熙晚期，亦称“蔷薇红”、“洋金红”、“玫瑰红”，为低温彩釉，浅淡者为胭脂红，浓重者又称“胭脂紫”。
