盖款：虔荣
此壶以浑朴见长，形体简练，朴实庄重，式度妍雅，气势不凡。壶盖饱满，钮如扁珠，唇线贴切。肩线挺括，一弯流圆润，蓄势内蕴，耳把弧度自然，把下带飞。整器骨肉匀亭，比例谐调，盖内钤印“虔荣”。潘氏作品并不多见，近代壶艺大师顾景舟对其评价甚佳，据其考证：“虔荣，潘姓，字菊轩。名在《宜兴县志》长寿耄耋之列，当地砂艺老辈颇为推重。高熙《茗壶说，赠邵大亨君》一文，亦首提其名。”并推算潘虔荣大概生于乾隆二十一年（1756），且至少在七十六岁时，尚能抟制佳器。另据李景康、张虹《阳羡紫砂图考》也载有碧山壶馆及披云楼各藏一持同款紫砂大壶，细砂精工，底镌楷书“岁在辛卯仲春，虔荣制，时年七十六并书”十六字。品相保存良好。
