|太湖石，又名窟窿石、假山石，是由石灰岩遭到长时间侵蚀后慢慢形成的，分有水石和干石两种。水石是在河湖中经水波荡涤，历久侵蚀而缓慢形成的。干石则是地质时期的石灰石在酸性红壤的历久侵蚀下而形成。形状各异，姿态万千，通灵剔透的太湖石，最能体现“皱、漏、瘦、透”之美，其色泽以白石为多，少有青黑石、黄石。
