He began his studies painting murals and icons for local Orthodox churches. Following the German invasion of Yugoslavia, Dzigurski and his family sought refuge in several European countries before immigrating to the United States in 1949. Dzigurski found himself drawn to the American west and settled in California. He is best known for his luminous seascapes and ability to capture the translucence of the rolling waves.
