A GOTHIC BUST OF BODY OF CHRIST South German, 2nd half of the 15th century H. 29/46 cm A fragment. Hardwood, probably limewood, worked fully round. Later base. Originally a naturally braided crown with some spikes left. Minimal remains of the original polychromy, incarnate overpainted. Damages due to age. Old inventory numbers on the back. Property of a Thuringian noble family, formerly inventory of Poschwitz Castle. The sculpture is visible on an old photography of the "Turmzimmer". Lit.
