阎魔天为藏传佛教的护法神，地狱之主，主宰冥界。据佛经记述，虔心供奉地狱主，能够抵御外界的各种灾难，此尊就展现了地狱主的威严样貌。牛头人身，发丝向上飞扬，状如火焰。头戴五骷髅冠，三目圆睁，面容凶愤，呈现忿怒水牛面相。上身裸露，躯体壮硕，腹部圆鼓，项挂五十人骷髅长链，展现出忿怒本尊所具的无上降伏威力。左手持羁索外展（已佚），右手高举法器（已佚）。腰饰连珠式璎珞及钏镯装饰，以左展立姿态踩在莲座之上。所承莲座莲瓣宽大朴素，联珠圆润规整。形象生动。整体造型准确大方，姿势孔武有力，装饰繁复，做工精细，将忿怒本尊的怖畏展露无遗，甚值珍视之。
