Each set with a large central emerald cabochon (ca. 42.2 x 32.5 mm) carved with floral and foliate designs in ornamental filigree surrounds. With hook and eye clasps. In a fitted case of dark green moiré silk. The two smoothly carved emerald cabochons are two halves of an oval-shaped emerald brought back from a trip to India by the previous owner. According to a gemmological report by the Studio de Stefano laboratory in Rome, commissioned by the Roman goldsmith Porro who produced the piece, the emerald is described as natural and with a total weight of 118.20 ct and the following dimensions: 34.00 x 43.90 x 13.00 mm. In the late 1990s, the previous owner commissioned Gioielleria Porro to cut the stone and set it in a necklace and matching bracelet according to his designs, which he based on Roman models from the latter half of the 19th century, as worked by the Castellani family of goldsmiths.
