银质宽唇口，粗直颈，溜肩，圆弧腹，下承高圈足外撇，足墙上段亦以银镶嵌，天地相映。颈部、肩部、腹部上下以三条带状弦纹相隔，带状弦纹之上以错金银工艺分别饰夔龙纹、缠枝花卉纹及城垛纹。肩两侧对饰饕餮活环耳，铸造精细，立体感极强，古朴而富于神秘气息。底部铸有编织纹。
明宣德年间，宣宗朱瞻基因见郊坛宗庙及内廷所陈设鼎彝均非古制，遂生复古之心，在宣德三年敕谕工部仿照宋人《考古图》、《博古图》诸书所记商周青铜器器形，铸造仿古铜器。整壶造型端庄凝重，纹饰精简，于古拙中流露出精美华丽之典雅气氛，通体包浆厚重，黑漆皮壳斑驳古韵，为明代仿古器物之佳品，极具收藏价值。
